I’ve passed, now what?

Now you’ve passed, what’s the next step?

Congratulations you can rip up those L plates!

The first thing to do is send your provisional licence and pass certificate to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), Swansea, SA99 1BJ, to upgrade to a full licence, together with the fee if your first provisional licence was issued before 01.03.2004. If your licence was issued after this date there is no fee and the examiner will keep your provisional licence and send it off for you. You will receive your full licence in the post
Please Note:- If you don’t apply for your full licence within two years, you’ll have to take both tests again.

Now you have passed your test, you are ready for Pass Plus, the course gives you valuable extra experience including mainland and motorway driving. On successful completion of Pass Plus you may be entitled to motor insurance discounts from one of the many insurance companies who recognise this DVSA scheme.

Resist the temptation to go mad. If you tot up six penalty points within two years of passing your practical test, you’ll have to take both tests again. New Drivers have had their driving licences revoked as a result of their own irresponsible driving behaviour.

Your full licence will permit you to drive in the UK and almost anywhere in Europe. We hope you will continue to drive and improve on the high standard you have reached.
